Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who served the Anambra South Senatorial District until his death, was buried, and the Nigerian Senate has denied claims that it failed to attend or represented itself well.

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the chair of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, brushed off the allegations as unfounded media slurs in a statement issued on Sunday.

As a sitting senator at the time of his passing, he emphasized that Ubah had been properly honored by the Senate.

Adaramodu said, “Senator Ubah received the utmost respect.” In recognition of his services to the Senate and the people he represented, the national flag was flown over his seat. Since the news of his passing was made public, the Senate has been actively involved.

The chamber devoted a whole legislative day to honoring Ubah, Adaramodu emphasized. One hundred senators, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, attended the valedictory session and praised the late senator’s contributions as a politician, businessman, and philanthropist.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio led a powerful team to Ubah’s Lagos home to further demonstrate its commitment, Adaramodu said.

He further mentioned that “significant Senate members were in Nnewi on behalf of the Senate and had previously contacted the family prior to the burial.”

The Senate’s actions demonstrated a profound regard for Ubah, Adaramodu said, calling the charges “preposterous.”

“It is regrettable that someone would argue that we did not honor him just because we did not’storm Nnewi’ in a spectacular display of force,” he stated.

The Senate also expressed its deepest sympathies to the Anambra community and Ubah’s family, reaffirming its dedication to honoring the late senator’s legacy.
