Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and his group have been banned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, the party has declared.
The NNPP National Chairman, Agbo Major, cautioned Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya gang against blackmail and unlawful activities that could cause the party to become unstable during a press conference in Abuja on Friday.
Major stated that the Kwankwasiyya group recently wrote to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, requesting that someone not approved by the party be appointed to replace Deputy Minority Leader Aliyu Madaki.
The action is the result of flagrant ignorance of the sacred Green Chamber’s inner workings. He claimed that even though they have left our party, they are still determined to undermine the NNPP’s National Assembly caucus.

Security services, especially in Kano State, were urged by Major to look into and stop any disruptive activities by the Kwankwasiyya organization, citing worries over possible violations of public peace.
They are notorious for their carelessness, disturbance of the peace, and continuation of unlawful activities. Especially in view of the recent court ruling that upheld their deportation, we implore security agencies to intervene and guarantee compliance with the law,” he said.
In order to prevent a breakdown of law and order, Major also disclosed that petitions have been filed against Senator Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, and other Kwankwasiyya group leaders to security authorities.
He cited a recent ruling by the Abia High Court that put the party’s management back in the hands of its founder, Boniface Aniebonam, and stated that the only acceptable correspondence with the Speaker of the House of Representatives would be letters signed by the BOT Chairman or the official party leadership.
We implore the Honorable Speaker to act only upon letters signed by Comrade Sunday Olaposi Oginni as Secretary and Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major as National Chairman, respectively, he continued.
Major denounced the unlawful conduct of the Kwankwasiyya faction in calling Madaki and Kabiru Rurum in for disciplinary measures.
“Video proof shows that these people have long condemned their affiliation with the Kwankwasiyya sect. He declared, “The group has no authority to act on behalf of the NNPP.”
Following their expulsion, the Kwankwasiyya group’s leaders had no standing within the party, the party warned, adding that any acts taken by the group against NNPP members will be deemed void.
