A fast-rising jewelry-making company in Nigeria with its headquarters in Abuja, Makems Jewellery, recently held its annual jewelry exhibition, showcasing a wide variety of stylish, exquisite, and one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry items that were imported and produced locally. The event attracted hundreds of attendees.
The jewelry show was a well-curated display of outstanding ornaments, from modern styles to vintage gems like Makems handcrafted jewelry, earrings, long necklaces, jewelry sets, bangles and bracelets, rings, and men’s bracelets, among others. Its emphasis on supporting local content is in line with the Federal Government’s policy directive to support local content in all economic sectors.
Taking place on December 7, 2024, at the Glowing Ages Academy, Games Village Road, Kaura District, Abuja, the annual Makems 2024 Jewellery Exhibition drew fashionistas and prospective customers who took advantage of the chance to network with other attendees and buy fashionable jewelry that matched their status as the Yuletide season got underway.
Director of Business Development at Makems, Miss Temitope Adejare, spoke to attendees and stakeholders at the event, stating that Makems Jewellery sells both imported and locally made jewelry.
“You’ll see that due to the recent economic developments regarding the dollar’s exchange rate against the naira, imported goods have become extremely costly.

As a result, Makems Jewellery has made sure to acquire locally produced jewelry materials, and many of these pieces are on display at this exhibition being crafted in Nigeria.
Making jewelry is Makems Jewellery’s passion, and we’ve been able to create stunning items that people adore at this show by using what we can do in Nigeria, Adejare added.
According to her, “each person’s actions are distinct.” The design is not repeated by us. Therefore, the only jewelry piece that has the same design is the one you purchase from Makems. People have learned about this throughout time, and they particularly enjoy attending the display.
She claims that Makems works all year long to compile the finest jewelry products made locally as well as some imported designs. The exhibition, she says, brings people together to view the different designs that Makems has on display for the season and buy their favorite designs.
