In relation to the killing of eight-year-old Progress Ifeanyi in the Owa-Alero community, Delta State Police Command has detained Destiny Lawrence as a murder suspect.

The police are currently holding the suspect while he cools off.

The police have also started a manhunt for a native doctor named Jonah, who is on the run and hired the apprehended suspect to take the dead youngster to him in exchange for N30,000.

SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement.
On November 23, 2024, a resident of Owa-Alero (name withheld) reported that his 8-year-old son, Progress Ifeanyi, was missing. The last they heard was that one of their regular customers, Destiny Lawrence, had taken him away, according to the police image maker.

However, when he noticed that his son was missing, he asked the aforementioned Destiny, who denied knowing where his son was.

However, Edafe claims that later that day, his son’s body was discovered in an incomplete construction, with some of his body parts gone.

The suspect, Destiny Lawrence, was taken into custody and, when being questioned, admitted that he had been hired by a native doctor from the Otolokpo village named Jonah to find a little child for him in exchange for N30,000.

The deceased was then led to an incomplete structure by the native doctor, who cut his neck after he had enticed him to where he was waiting.

“A manhunt for the fugitive native doctor is ongoing, and the suspect is in custody,” Edafe continued.
