A woman known only as Lucy was discovered dead in her Asaba, Delta State capital, flat on NNPC Road after going missing on January 5.
Harrison Gwamnishu, the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society and Youth Mobilization to the Delta State Governor, posted on Facebook on Monday, informing the public that Lucy’s body had been found by a coworker.
He explained that after the woman stopped communicating at work, the management of her place of employment dispatched someone to her home to inquire about her absence.
The coworker peeped through the glass after the sent individual allegedly met the apartment’s locked door.
It was reported that the coworker alerted others to the incident after noticing Lucy’s lifeless body.
“On January 5, they began searching for her at her place of employment,” Gwamnishu stated. Her number was not connecting when they tried to contact it. They dispatched someone to see how she was doing and to inquire as to why she hadn’t been showing up for work.
When she arrived, she reported that the door was locked. She looked through the window and saw a dead body on the floor, naked, and covered in blood.
She battled, as evidenced by the marks on her body, the knife-caught finger, and the hair that was all over the floor after an examination. There are rumors that Lucy was killed at her home.
The SSA asked the Delta State Police Command to make sure that justice was done and that those responsible were held accountable.
To prevent such circumstances, he also asked state people to report any threat to their lives at all times.

Nobody is aware of Lucy’s killer. Just hoping that CP Abaniwonda’s Delta State Police Command will conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the situation is all we can do.
“Please DM me if you are a young girl in Asaba and someone is threatening your life and you are unsure of what to do. Never dismiss a threat as insignificant. Report the individual and treat them with seriousness, Gwamnishu advised.
Bright Edafe, the public relations officer for the Delta State Police, confirmed the occurrence in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Monday.
He went on to say that the matter was being investigated.
Edafe stated, “It is confirmed and an investigation is underway.”
