Prince, a Higher National Diploma (HND2) student at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic in Ikot Osurua, was shot and killed by cult-related suspects.
Around one in the morning on Wednesday, the event happened on Abuja Street in Ikot Osurua, the neighborhood where the institution is located.
It has been alleged that Prince, a final-year student of computer science, was attacked while his girlfriend was around.
Prince recently finished his final tests, according to witnesses who spoke to The Nation, and was getting ready to defend his project before being drafted into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
According to sources, the shooters broke into the property, proceeded straight to Prince’s room, and shot him in the abdomen, leaving him lying in a pool of blood.
According to a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous, the victim’s girlfriend sounded the alarm, which prompted neighbors to take him to the hospital for medical attention.

Although it is yet unknown what motivated the attack, it has increased local concerns about cult-related violence. No arrests in connection with the incident have been confirmed, and authorities have not yet commented on the situation.
Nothing from the residence was taken by the gunmen. No one in the compound was even robbed. They simply fled after shooting him.
Yesterday at around 4 p.m., I met the victim and his girlfriend. They were both wearing facemasks. I jokingly questioned them why they were wearing that outfit. Everybody laughed.
The victim had a significant presence in the choral group at his church and was well-liked in the neighborhood. The manner of his death astounds us.
DSP Timfon John, the Akwa Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence and stated that cult activities and robberies occurred in the vicinity of the victim’s compound, where the students were shot dead.
According to the information we have, there have been robberies and cult activities in the region. After robbing and invading, they shot a person who was later identified as a student. However, he added, “The investigation is still ongoing.”
