Six terrorists have been neutralized in Sokoto State by the Defense Headquarters Special Operations Brigade personnel, who have also retrieved firearms.

In a statement released Thursday in Gusau, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator, Joint Media Coordination Center, Operation Fansan Yamma, stated as much.

The troops of the Defense Headquarters Special Operations Brigade established contact in the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State on January 11 after conducting a concerted offensive operation against the Lakurawa insurgents.

The troops killed six terrorists during a firefight and found four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a package of 12.7mm ammunition, among other items.

“Unfortunately, the operation claimed the lives of five brave soldiers who gave their all,” Abdullahi stated.
