Al’amin Garba, a nine-year-old child, was killed after a guy named Muhammad Sani opened fire on attendees during a wedding ceremony in Kebbi State.
Another youngster, seven-year-old Bello Shehu, was alleged to be hurt during the incident.
The incident is believed to have occurred in the Koko/Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Garba died instantaneously from a gunshot wound to the head, but Shehu suffered serious rib injuries.
He has been admitted to a nearby medical institution, and the shooter has been caught.
Bello Sani, commissioner of police for Kebbi command, condemned the incident.

He urged locals to surrender all firearms in their possession to the police for the sake of public safety.
He also called for a thorough inquiry and the shooter’s prompt prosecution.
