The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has criticized Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, calling him a “transactional politician” whose allegiances change according to desire.
Governor Mohammed’s Special Adviser for Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, released a press statement on Thursday that included the attack. Wike had criticized Mohammed for opposing President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills.
Wike was accused of political inconsistency and opportunism by Gidado, who called his comments “baseless” and “hypocritical.”
Wike, who has easily gone from being a self-described PDP stalwart to an enthusiastic supporter of the APC government, accuses others of being dishonest.
While maintaining his PDP membership, he now supports the reelection of the same APC government in 2027. Wike’s moral character and honesty are seriously called into doubt by this chameleonic behavior,” the statement said.
Furthermore, Gidado said that Nigerians are not duped by Wike’s antics and charged him with putting ambition before of values and sabotaging his party for his own benefit.
Gidado claimed that the PDP’s opportunities were the foundation of Wike’s political career.
The fundamental foundation that raised him is now being joyously undermined by him.
A man who owes so much to a party that supported him during his political career has chosen to be a willing tool in its defamation, which is distressing, Gidado added.
Wike’s assertion that he is not friends with Mohammed was rejected by Gidado as “irrelevant and puerile.”

According to him, “competence, vision, and the capacity to produce results are the foundations of governance, not personal friendships.”
Senator Bala Mohammed would throw open his arms if Wike ever had a moment of sincere introspection and wanted to identify himself with actual leadership.
“Until then, the advancement of Bauchi State and the fortification of Nigeria’s democracy are not affected by Wike’s friendship—or lack thereof,” the statement said.
