A shipment of cannabis, commonly referred to as “Loud,” wrapped in a duvet and headed for the UK has been captured by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency agents.
The shipment was detained on Tuesday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, according to a statement released by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday.
Adakole Sunday and Austin Balogun, two individuals connected to the shipment, were detained right away when NDLEA officials found them, according to the statement.
“Six packages containing 3.50 kg of the psychoactive material were hidden within the duvet,” the statement stated in part.
Austin Balogun, the principal agent who employed Adakole, stated in his statement that he received N700,000 to ship the shipment to the UK, but that he only used a portion of the funds for export handling fees and the majority to purchase an apartment.

According to Babafemi, “skuchies” and guns were found during a raid in the Ikorodu neighborhood of Lagos.
In Igbo Olomu, Ikorodu, Lagos, NDLEA agents raided the hideout of two suspects, Joseph Oluwasegun Adewale and Biodun Adelakun, and found seven liters of skuchies, a new psychoactive substance made from black currant, cannabis, and opioids. At least two suspects were arrested, he wrote.
“The pair also had three locally manufactured double barrel rifles, one locally made double barrel pistol, one English-made pistol, one locally made single barrel rifle, three cartridges, one empty 9mm cartridge, and an iron-head axe confiscated from them.”
In the meantime, on January 19, another raid in Lagos’ Akala neighborhood of Mushin turned up 25.46 kg of nitrous oxide, also referred to as laughing gas, a strain of cannabis, and 47 kg of skunk.
According to reports, the operations went beyond Lagos. On January 23, Adepoju Taiwo, a 26-year-old suspect, was apprehended and detained in Ekiti State with 1.950 kg of Canadian Loud, and on January 20, Auwal Sani was apprehended in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State after 50,000 tramadol 225mg pills weigh 36.56 kg.
“NDLEA operatives arrested a Nigerien, Abubakar Lami, 45, along with two other individuals, Abba Sani, 35, and Auwal Aliyu, 32, at Gadar Tamburawa, Kano,” the statement continued. Additionally, 125 liters of “suck and die,” a novel psychoactive substance, and 13.1 kg of skunk were found in their possession.
