A suspected drunk driver crashed into the Myoung Barracks in the Morocco neighborhood of Shomolu in Lagos, killing four troops and injuring others.
The troops were jogging on the road outside the barracks in the early hours of Friday, like they do every month, when the car struck them.
An eyewitness named Priscilla, who lives in the area, told our correspondent that the Toyota car was carrying three young males when it ran at full speed and collided with the soldiers.
She claimed that when the young men tried to flee following the collision, they were caught, beaten, and their car was vandalized.

The witness claimed that one of the young males had been stabbed.
“The young men rammed into the soldiers in front of the barracks in the early hours of this morning while the soldiers were on their monthly morning road walk,” she claimed.
Many of the soldiers suffered severe injuries, and four of them died. The boys tried to flee after the incident, but they were caught and brutally assaulted until they were unconscious, and their car was vandalized. The troops also stabbed one of the boys.
“The local population is in a state of panic as a result of the incident.”
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, and Olabisi Ayeni, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division, had not yet replied to the messages left on their phones at the time this article was filed.
