Four people have been found guilty of conspiracy and armed robbery by an Ekiti State High Court and sentenced to death by hanging.
On Thursday, Oyedele Oluwatobi, 27, Damilola Christopher, 30, Tope Ojo, 37, and Temitope Aderopo, 37, were found guilty by Justice Lekan Olatawura of participating in an armed robbery at Ilutitun Street in Ikere Ekiti on August 3, 2021.
In April 2024, the four guys were charged with five counts of conspiracy and armed robbery.
According to what the court heard, the prisoners planned to rob their victims—Idowu Damilola, Ganiyu Abimbola, Idowu Tolulope, and Taye Adegboye—while carrying weapons.
Phones, laptops, power banks, chargers, sound systems, jewelry, and N13,000 were among the stolen goods.
One of the victims, Idowu Damilola, stated in her testimony that the burglars entered her room while she was asleep.
“When the intruders threatened my brother with a gun, I was forced down from the ceiling where I hid,” she added.
The judge’s decision stated that the prosecution had established the accused’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, citing the individual confessions of the first through fourth defendants.

Ojo, Aderopo, Oluwatobi, and Christopher were all given hanging death sentences by Justice Lekan Olatawura.
“May God have mercy on your souls,” said the judge in closing.
