The All Progressives Congress (APC) has a responsibility to apologize to Nigerians for failing to fulfill their promises, according to former Solid Minerals Minister Kayode Fayemi.
When questioned in an interview on Thursday whether the APC should apologize to Nigerians for their actions in overthrowing former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, Fayemi reportedly replied in the affirmative.
Keep in mind that the former governor of Ekiti State claimed that the Occupy Nigeria demonstration against Jonathan’s government’s elimination of gasoline subsidies was driven by politics.
He pointed out that although they complained against Jonathan’s choice to abolish the fuel subsidy, they recognized it was the right one.
The APC head acknowledged in his Channels TV interview that the party has not fulfilled its promises to the Nigerian people.
He stated: “Oh, it is obvious that we have to apologize to the people of Nigeria. Our promises to the Nigerian people have not all been fulfilled. And that isn’t simply because we weren’t capable; we also had to deal with other structural barriers that made things more challenging. However, we have obviously fallen short in our efforts to improve the quality of life for Nigerians.

Furthermore, I would undoubtedly not think twice about apologizing to the Nigerian people for that. We have so much more to do. An apology may make us feel better, but that’s not really what we need. We all think of ourselves as leaders in that field, so we need to get our act together. We will be taking on more risk than we will be earning if we don’t.
