On Thursday, a horrific accident at Kano’s well-known Muhammadu Buhari Bridge left several people dead and injured.
Both commuters and locals were in a panic after the collision, which involved a trailer traveling to the southern region of the nation.
According to Yahya Abubakar Sadiq, a social media user who posted about the tragedy on his Facebook, the trailer flipped over while transporting both persons and cargo.
At Hotoro NNPC, a truck (Tarela) carrying both passengers and supplies has overturned at the moment beneath the bridge connecting Mariri and Unguwa Uku. At least twenty individuals were involved; some of them died and others suffered severe injuries,” he stated.
Shu’aibu Hamisu, another eyewitness who talked to Daily Trust, recounted the terrifying event, saying that the trailer lost control while it was traveling through the underpass tunnel.
Inside the underpass, the trailer slid. Numerous people died instantly, but some were saved,” he stated.

There have been other reports of similar incidents at the same location in the last year.
These collisions frequently include trailers carrying passengers, food, and animals from the north to the south of the country, according to local business owners in the area.
In an interview with Daily Trrust, one shop owner stated, “These accidents typically occur when drivers try to speed through the underpass and underestimate the vulnerability of their vehicles under the bridge.”
