Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna, has asked Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor, to get along with Senator Uba Sani, his successor.
According to reports, El-Rufai’s former ally, Senator Hunkuyi, told the former governor to cease criticizing Sani and the party leadership during a meeting with Zone One party stakeholders, which included Governor Sani and APC chairmen from different local government districts.
He maintained that the former governor was forced to acknowledge and back Sani as Kaduna State’s present leader.
In addition, Hunkuyi urged El-Rufai to apologize to the people of Kaduna for the alleged wrongs he did while serving as governor.
He asserted that the people of Kaduna voted for El-Rufai because God so desired and that the people backed him, not because of his name, age, wealth, or level of education.
“I abstained from public speaking for two years,” he remarked. Nobody made me stay away from the radio; it was a choice I made for myself. But now is the moment to use words to break the fast. I shall now begin to speak.
“Your Excellency, I bring up the people because it is thanks to them that we are here. They are the reason you brought this gathering together. All of the party chairmen from the LGAs are present because of them. Although I didn’t call anyone by name, I am personally pleading with him to ask for forgiveness from the public.

El-Rufai should follow Governor Uba Sani, who was elected to office, in order to live in harmony. It’s me, Hunkuyi, speaking. No one asked me to say these things, I swear to God. I didn’t spoken to anyone about this. I’m stating this because I am aware that El-Rufai’s course is incorrect.
Under the APC, Senator Hunkuyi represented Zone One in the Senate from 2015 to 2019 and El-Rufai was the governor of Kaduna State from 2015 until 2023.
After Senator Hunkuyi and El-Rufai split up, the former governor ordered Hunkuyi’s home to be demolished.
