According to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, running for office and holding elections in Nigeria is like to going to war.
According to reports, Governor Aiyedatiwa said that he prevented his wife, Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, from accompanying him on campaign trips for security reasons.
Speaking to Channels TV on Monday, the governor said that his wife attended his swearing-in ceremony for a second term because it was a post-war celebration.
But he also mentioned that his wife was at home, praying for him and planning things, even though she was not out in public during his campaign.

In his own words: “I can also tell you that I was there with my deputy and all of our supporters during the campaign years.” It is important to remember that your wife is not there in the studio with you. I therefore consider that to be at work. Furthermore, you don’t bring your wife to work. She was back at home, most likely praying for us while we were going around the street on a campaign. She was present at the formal event today, though. I’m not sure what you mean by that, then. You don’t bring your wife to the front lines of the conflict, however, when you are working there. And you know, this election is like going to war in this part of the world. Hence, no soldier brings his spouse to the battlefield. Staying at home, they pray and take care of everything. He will arrive after the conflict, though, and they will show up after the ceremony.
