Modestus Ojiebe, a Nigeria Police Force officer who was abducted on Monday, March 3, near the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Abuja, has been released.
The Chief Superintendent of Police was reportedly taken away by some armed attackers on the highway.
While trying to fix his car when it broke down close to the Dei-Dei Police Barracks in Abuja, the senior officer, who is a member of the Kwara State Police Command, was attacked.
Hours after the incident, however, it was reported that Ojiebe had been safely rescued by Federal Capital Territory Police Command personnel.
The Divisional Police Officer of Dawaki quickly took his patrol team to the scene after getting an emergency call, according to a statement issued on Monday by Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command.
Adeh further affirmed that the policeman had been returned to his family and had been safely recovered.
“The Divisional Police Officer of Dawaki responded quickly to the distress call by directing his patrol team and notifying all police checkpoints and important entry and exit points into the Federal Capital Territory,” she said.

The officer was successfully rescued and reunited with his family that same evening thanks to this prompt action. The accused abandoned the victim and ran away into the jungle in Garaku, Nasarawa State, and are still being sought.
