Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi is the new Accountant General of the Federation, having been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Oluwatoyin Madehin, the current Accountant General, is scheduled to retire on March 7, 2025, the same day his appointment takes effect.
Ogunjimi, 57, was initially announced in December 2024 as Madehin’s replacement. However, a competitive, merit-based selection process involving senior Federal Civil Service officials resulted in his final confirmation. A written test, an ICT proficiency test, and an oral interview were the three methods used by the selection committee to evaluate applicants. The Presidency claims that President Tinubu’s dedication to guaranteeing openness, quality, and proficiency in important government appointments is reflected in this procedure.

Both the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria count him as a fellow.

Ogunjimi is congratulated on his appointment by President Tinubu, who also exhorts him to carry out his responsibilities in the Nigerian service with honesty, professionalism, and devotion.
