In the Mandara Mountains of Borno State, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported notable success in a precise bombing against Boko Haram insurgent hideouts near Chikide and Degbewa.
As a result of the March 16, 2025, airstrike, the terrorist organization suffered significant losses.
In a statement, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, the NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, said the strike was in response to reliable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) inputs that pinpointed important rebel hiding places in the region.
The operation reportedly attempted to interrupt a high-level assembly of Boko Haram leader Ali Ngulde and his fighters, who were reportedly in the area.
Targeting reinforced command hubs with solar-powered equipment in the rocky terrain, the airstrike was carried out under cover of darkness, according to the NAF’s statement. A surprise strike that caught the insurgents off guard was made possible by this calculated approach.
“The NAF carried out a devastating nocturnal airstrike against terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa on March 16, 2025, in a daring display of air power and precision night warfare capabilities,” Ali said in his statement. Insurgent enclaves deep within the perilous Mandara Mountains were the objective of the operation, which severely damaged the terrorists’ stronghold and interfered with their operations.
The location in Degbewa was a major gathering place for the insurgents, according to surveillance missions, and there were many strongly fortified buildings there.

In response to this intelligence, the NAF moved quickly to launch an effective, targeted attack that damaged critical command and logistics infrastructure.
The night operation was executed successfully, demonstrating the NAF’s increasing efficacy in both day and night operations. In addition to causing massive fires and eliminating several terrorists, the airstrike also destroyed vital insurgent infrastructure.
“This night operation was executed successfully, demonstrating that insurgents can no longer operate in the dark and highlighting the NAF’s increasing dominance in both day and night air power capabilities,” Ali continued.
The NAF has reaffirmed its will to keep up its unrelenting efforts to demolish terrorist organizations and bring peace back to the area. The NAF hopes to guarantee that insurgents no longer seek sanctuary in the area by conducting persistent airstrikes.
Ali continued by saying, “The NAF remains committed to using its formidable air power to neutralize terrorist networks and restore lasting peace to the region through relentless precision strikes and sustained air operations.”
