Prior to the general election in 2027, opponents of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State have begun negotiations to create a coalition.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in an address to Katsina PDP stakeholders.
The current governor of Katsina State is APC Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who was elected in 2023 to replace APC Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
The opposition groups were collaborating to overthrow the ruling party, according to Inuwa, who ran in the 2023 APC governorship primary before defecting to the PDP.
“We have started talking with members of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), and even well-known APC members about forming a coalition for the 2027 election,” he stated.

He added that some APC members covertly back the effort.
The fact that some of the APC members behind this movement occupy important posts in the state and federal APC governments may surprise you, Inuwa continued.
He clarified that prominent politicians from Katsina and beyond, as well as opposition leaders, were nearing a decision on which party to form in preparation for the 2027 elections.
He claims that the goal is to overthrow the APC at the state and federal levels, and that talks have made great progress.
Inuwa was previously the director of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign in 2023.
PDP chieftain Ahmed Musa-Yar’adua, former PDP National Secretary Senator Umar Tsauri, and former Daura Zone Senator Ahmed Babba-Kaita were among those in attendance.
