Kano State lawmakers have been advised by Vice President Kashim Shettima to maintain unity and refrain from allowing political disagreements to drive them apart.
During a visit to the Emir’s palace on Saturday night to offer condolences for the passing of Galadiman Kano, late Abbas Sunusi, he made the appeal.
Shettima stressed the value of unity in the politically significant state while speaking in front of Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Abbas, the chairman of the Kano APC, and important political personalities from the Kwankwasiyya and Gandujiyya factions.
“It is a mistake for political disagreements to divide or disrupt a state like Kano, which is respected at all levels of politics,” Shettima stated.
He went on to say, “We do not rejoice when we see political rifts or finger-pointing among its people because Kano is a model for the entire Nigeria.”
“Kano is the heartbeat of the North; whatever affects Kano affects the North,” he said, emphasizing the crucial role that Kano plays in Northern Nigeria.

In a heartfelt statement, Shettima stated that he decided to use Hausa to convey his message in order to guarantee understanding and a rapport with the audience.
Even though I am not a native Hausa speaker, I have done my utmost to ensure that you understand me, which is why I am delivering this message in Hausa, Shettima remarked.
In addition, he prayed for the late Galadiman Kano, hoping that God would grant him eternal life.
In response to recent bandit attacks in Shanono Local Government Area, where some people were killed and others were abducted, the vice president offered his condolences to the families impacted.
Shettima continued, “We are asking God to give us peace in Nigeria and throughout the country.”
