Martins Vincent Otse, better known by his stage name VeryDarkMan, has received a severe warning from the South-South Zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which calls for an apology from him within seven days for what they say was an insulting tirade against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Blessing Agbomhere, the South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary, the APC advised the social media influencer to avoid making any more assaults on the former Akwa Ibom governor and warned him to make a distinction between defamation and activism.
Agbomhere’s response comes after VeryDarkMan’s widely shared video featuring his criticism of Akpabio’s involvement in the federal government group traveling to the Vatican for Pope Francis’ death.

In the about three-minute-long video, the influencer called Akpabio’s travel to Rome “shameful,” contending that the Senate President ought to have gone to the Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu states, which had recently seen violent attacks.
Nonetheless, the APC leader objected to the comments, accusing VeryDarkMan of defaming Akpabio while posing as an activist.
Under the guise of a social crusader and champion for the masses, “VeryDarkMan is becoming notorious for blackmail, slander, and character assassination,” he said. The unjustified verbal assault directed against Nigeria’s third-ranking citizen, who was duly selected by the president to head a delegation to represent Nigeria but chose not to travel to Rome. What is wrong with that specifically?
The Senate President’s pick to represent Nigeria at the Vatican was further supported by Agbomhere, who emphasized that Akpabio was a good fit due to his reputation and faith.
“President Tinubu saw in Akpabio a worthy ambassador of Nigeria to such an event as the Pope’s funeral and wasted no time in thrusting that responsibility on him,” he said, identifying him as a family man with impeccable character and a strong Catholic faith. Why is that a problem?
Agbomhere emphasized the seriousness of the situation by saying, “With this statement, I am issuing VeryDarkMan a one-week ultimatum to immediately tender an unreserved apology to the Senate president for the slanderous comments and to desist from further bringing the integrity of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration into disrepute in the eyes of the global community.”
The APC mainstay further urged Nigerians to ignore what he called VeryDarkMan’s “uninformed ranting,” claiming that the government is working hard to solve the nation’s security issues, many of which were passed down from their parents.
According to Agbomhere, who emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s dedication, “Tinubu met with the security chiefs after returning from France and the UK and gave them marching orders to ensure that a different approach is deployed in the fight against insecurity.” Does it sound like this individual is not concerned about defending Nigerians’ lives and property?
“Keep in mind that the complicated security issues in the country cannot be wished away with a wave of the hand; it takes time to achieve a semblance of peace, and that is a commitment that the Tinubu-led administration made to Nigerians while assuming office and is still committed to achieving,” he said in closing, reminding the populace that resolving Nigeria’s complex security issues would require patience and consistent effort.
