According to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North in the National Assembly, President Bola Tinubu was offended that he only garnered 4% of the vote in Abia State as a whole in the 2023 presidential election.
Considering the variety of personalities the All Progressives Congress (APC) had in Abia State during the polls, the former governor of Abia State reportedly said on his official Facebook page that Tinubu’s 4% overall score was a concerning result.
He emphasized that the South East should not lose out on the advantages of being a part of the mainstream political environment and urged APC members to band together and concentrate on bringing about the APC’s triumph in 2027.
The senator from Abia North said that the purpose of the stakeholders’ meeting he called at his home in Abuja was to encourage unity among APC members and rally the party’s support from Abia members. He pointed out that Governor Otti was not present at the talks.
Kalu also explained that he does not publicly discuss his successors in government and that he did not criticize Governor Alex Otti or his performance.

When I joined the APC in 2019, for instance, President Buhari won 68% of the vote in our constituency. However, when President Tinubu returned in 2023, he only won 4% of the vote in Abia as a whole, indicating that he was unhappy with the state’s political performance.
We are only able to make 4% because he has buddies like myself in addition to other folks. I find it hard to believe myself.
