The decision to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been revealed by Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, who was the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor of Lagos in the general elections of 2023.
State Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi and the party’s executive council greeted Jandor when he visited the APC state secretariat in Acme, Ikeja.
He stated that he would run for governor of Lagos again on the APC platform and used the occasion to say that he would be willing to back President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027.
“This is merely a formal notification that we have decided to return home and rejoin the APC family; it is not our official announcement. It brings us joy to return to the winning family.
“We have arrived to combine our numerical strength with the current party strength in order to guarantee that we continue to win for Nigerians.”
Jandor explained, “Our goal is to figure out how we can dismantle the entire gang up against Mr. President in the name of a coalition and work to regain the presidency of Nigeria in 2027.”

Regarding his 2022 switch from the APC to the PDP, Jandor said it was a strategic move to make room to demonstrate his abilities.
In his own words, “I am a man of conviction.” “I don’t simply go along with the crowd. At that time, our exit from APC was calculated. We have returned with political clout, not without anything.
He credited the growing political maneuvers intended to undermine President Tinubu’s chances in 2027 with his decision to rejoin the APC.
Charity starts at home, according to the Yoruba proverb, “Omo eni o ni se idi bebere ka fi leke si idi omo elomiran.” Our own must be protected. The return of President Tinubu in 2027 is our top priority. All other issues are incidental,” he continued.
Although he has not officially announced his intention to run for governor in the upcoming election, Jandor said he is still open to doing so if the party endorses his goal.
“I’ve decided to remain in the run for governor. We’re going to run with the ticket if the party hands it to us. But we will follow the party’s decision.
Reiterating his pledge to completely rejoin the APC, he aimed to return with the same degree of political significance as before his leave.
While congratulating Jandor on his return, APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi said the action was both smart and timely for the party.
Prior to this reunion, all 20 local government and 37 LCDA chairmen were consulted. We need to make amends for the poor performance in the 2023 elections in 2027,” Ojelabi said. “Now that you’re back, we can clear that record and deliver at every level.”
Acknowledging Jandor’s political influence in Lagos, he promised him complete reintegration.
“The spirit of Asiwaju Tinubu is one of forgiveness. People who earlier disagreed with him are frequently accepted and assimilated after they return. You are taking the correct step today, and the door is open.
Maiyegun Moshood, the vice chairman, praised Jandor’s return as well, stating that it will contribute to bringing back the spirit of Lagos politics.
“Los Angeles is really important to you. Our party’s core is strengthened by your return,” he said.
Party Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo went on to say that Jandor’s defection had severely damaged the PDP.
“This action leaves the PDP without a viable candidate for governor. “Their party’s strength has weakened,” he said.
