“A police roadblock at Agbogugu along Enugu-Ozalla-Port Harcourt Old Road was ambushed by gunmen who were believed to be armed robbers last evening, murdering two police officers. According to an eyewitness, they also set fire to two cars: a police patrol van and a Sienna.
Two officers, one known locally as “Big” and the other as the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), were identified as the victims of the attack.
The burning cars were removed by Enugu police as well. According to what I’ve been told, the attackers took the officers’ weapons away,” the witness continued.
This most recent act of violence joins the increasing number of deadly assaults that have targeted police enforcement in the Enugu North Senatorial District in recent months.
