The state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has been criticized by Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for governor of Anambra state in the November 8, 2025, election, for the state’s low student performance on the recently released National Examination Council (NECO) and Join Administration and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams.
Cancel Chukwuma bemoaned the sudden drop to 28th place in the recently released results for Anambra State, which had been at the top of the national rating for over ten years.
“We have seen a startling decline in some of the key indicators of development in our State today,” the YPP governorship candidate said in a statement yesterday.
Once a leader in education for more than ten years, Anambra State’s current leadership has let this progress wane.

“In terms of student performance, Anambra State has fallen so far in the education rankings that we now lag behind Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi States.” We have seen a decrease under the current Anambra State Government to the point where the state was unable to rank among the top states in the region and nationally for pupils who earned five credits on their senior certificate exam. It’s the worst it’s been in over ten years.
There are fragments of this promise. A gain that has since been lost. For us as a people, it is a warning sign that is harmful for our State and our children’s future,” Sir Chukwuma continued.
On the other hand, Chukwuma promised that his administration will undo the regrettable trend if elected.
