Youths Expose Kidnapping, Ritual Practices in Enugu, Sparking Outrage

A prominent community member, Ichie Millions (also known as Ezeani), was accused by local youths of using his expansive compound for illegal activities, such as kidnapping and rituals, on Tuesday, causing chaos in the otherwise peaceful Umumba Ndiagu community in Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State.
Ezeani, who had posed as a businessman, was suspected of being a native physician with a sinister secret.
As per the accusations, the self-described businessman Ezeani was abducting people from his compound. It was said that the indigenous physician had ceremoniously buried people alive in soak-away holes, including children and pregnant women.

What the young people discovered in Ezeani’s compound when they began their quest for the truth astounded them. The town was rocked by the discovery of remains buried in soak-away holes.
In a social media video that went viral, angry adolescents were shown looting Ezeani’s compound, including what looked to be his shrine. As the public learned of the horrific nature of his actions, the situation worsened.

A teenage girl who just escaped Ezeani’s grasp described her terrifying story in a video that went viral. In order to fry our garri, she said, “my father and I went to fetch firewood.” My dad gave them his cutlass when his soldiers requested for it. They seized me abruptly and held me in a pit they had excavated. Fortunately, Neighborhood Watch agents heard my sobs and came to my aid when I started crying.

“We have caught the killers,” a community member can be heard saying in another startling video as they describe the discovery. They take human lives. This place contains the dead bodies of people. They’ve killed a great many people. The 13-year-old child we recently saved was intended to be used for rituals.

The video also revealed that a suspect who claimed to be a security guard Ezeani had employed to guard his estate had been captured by the young people.

In the video, the enraged youngsters stripped this man naked, bound him, and abandoned him in the complex. Although the man denied any role in the murders, he acknowledged that he frequently visited Ezeani’s home for ceremonial purposes.

As he was being questioned by the irate teenagers, the suspect, who called Ezeani “Daddy Ezeani,” clarified, “I came here as a businessman. It was still necessary to execute a water sacrifice for me after I had completed several other sacrifices. I waited for everyone to take care of me. Things need to be done, but I’m not sure how he went about doing them. As a novice, however, they typically send the person on an errand here. I was asked by Daddy Ezeani, the site’s owner, to keep this place safe and deter visitors.

According to reports, Ezeani was evasive and his whereabouts were unclear at the time of the discovery. In response, the community allegedly set fire to his house and cars, and some of his wives were apprehended by the young people.

For a Native doctor who is on the run, police launch a manhunt.

Bitrus Giwa, the police commissioner, reportedly authorized a manhunt for the fugitive native physician.

Police officers from the Enugu State Command, attached to the Umumba Division, successfully rescued a 13-year-old girl (name withheld) who was allegedly abducted for ritual murder at Umuojor village in Ishiagu community of Ezeagu Local Government Area at approximately 3:15 a.m. on May 27, 2025, in cooperation with Neighbourhood Watch personnel and watchful community members, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe.

The operation also resulted in the arrest of three male suspects who were linked to the crime: Ejike Odinwankpa, 38; Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi, 36; and Uche Kingsley Agumba, 33. Levi Onyeka Obu, a renowned member of the community and a native doctor, is the major suspect. He fled the scene and is currently at large. He is known by the nicknames “Ezeani” and “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show.”

“During the rescue, two decaying bodies—one male and one female—were found buried in a concrete-sealed pit inside an incomplete building that belonged to the fugitive prime suspect and was used as a shrine and for horrific criminal activities.

Prior to the prompt intervention, the rescued youngster was on the verge of experiencing the same fate as the deceased victims, who were recently killed and ritually buried in the pit by the suspects, according to investigations.

“The Enugu State Government has demolished the buildings utilized for the criminal operation and owned by the fugitive chief suspect in accordance with state laws.

The success of the operation was made possible by the cooperation of police officers, local security organizations, and community people, as praised by Commissioner of Police CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, who visited the crime scene right away.

In order to ensure that justice is done, he has also instructed the Command’s Tactical Squads, Investigation and Intelligence Units, and other units to step up their efforts in locating the fugitive suspect and any other surviving collaborators.
