Namadi Sambo, the former vice president of Nigeria, has refuted claims that he switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to his media adviser, Umar Sani, who provided the rebuttal to Naija News in a press release, the report regarding Sambo’s defection is a fabrication meant to deceive the people.
The widely shared photo of Sambo with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, which was used to support the defection claim, is an old one, it further stated.
The former vice president is still a devoted and faithful member of the PDP, and he has no plans to join any other political party, the statement continued.
Rebuttal to False Claims of Defection by Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, GCON is the full statement.
“A widely shared report claims that His Excellency, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, GCON, the former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).” This has caught my interest. This assertion is completely untrue and unsupported.
“After receiving a lot of calls and questions, I have decided to issue this formal rebuttal on behalf of His Excellency’s family. The story is a lie, full of malice and intended to deceive the public, I declare unequivocally.

The image that backs up this lie, which features His Excellency beside Senator Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna State, is not current. Years ago, after his brother, the late Sani Sambo, passed away, the Governor paid a condolence visit to His Excellency’s home in Abuja. In order to suit a manufactured story, the image is now being purposefully misinterpreted.
Furthermore, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, His Excellency is expected to be present at the commissioning of a hospital with 300 beds in Kaduna. This project, which he started while he was in government, is evidence of his unwavering dedication to public service and Kaduna State’s progress. His invitation to observe the completion of this legacy project and perhaps make a few remarks should not be interpreted as a confirmation of any partisan shift or as a political endorsement.

For the sole purpose of creating uncertainty and gaining cheap political mileage, the defection story is a fabrication of its creators.
