Nine persons were killed and four injured in the Boko Haram insurgency attack on the town of Malam Fatori in the Abadam LGA of Borno state.
Reports claim that the tragedy happened 272 kilometers from Maiduguri, the state capital.
Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno, sent a delegation to express sympathy to the victims, according to the state administration.
The delegation was led by Sugun Mai Mele, the commissioner for emirate affairs and local government.
The press release read, “We are here to offer our condolences to the people of Malam Fatori for the recent unfortunate attack at the request of His Excellency, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, who is currently abroad on an official assignment.”
He pledged that the Borno State administration and military will do all in their power to protect the community.

The commissioner said that trenches would be built around the local government offices using excavators to deter future attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP rebels.
Mai Mele warned the locals not to collaborate with rebels in any form since anyone found guilty would face divine punishment.
The government’s support included N250,000 for each of the four injured victims and N500,000 for each grieving family.
Usman Tar, the commissioner for information and internal security, also disclosed plans to move 3,000 displaced families to Malam Fatori, bringing the total number of resettled houses to 5,000.
“The government of Borno state has already relocated 2,000 households, and it intends to relocate an additional 3,000 households shortly, bringing the total number of resettled households to 5,000,” Tar said.
“I want to reassure the people that the state government is prepared to make the required security arrangements, giving them the resources and protection they need to prolong their stay in their country.”
Tar urged residents to report any unusual activity to the authorities.
