The North firmly supports President Bola Tinubu to serve another four years in office, according to the All Progressives Congress, which has stated that there won’t be a vacancy in Aso Rock, the seat of power, till 2031.

In particular, APC national secretary Ajibola Bashiru made this statement on Monday in Ibadan during a media roundtable hosted by the Nigeria Union of Journalists.

He referred to the ADC coalition as a “mushroom party” and a “contraption” that was made up of selfish people with no political significance.

Mr. Bashiru claims that the northern APC structures, which name Sokoto, Bauchi, Kebbi, and Zamfara as states that support Mr. Tinubu’s 2027 ambition, are firmly in favor of it.

The politician went on to say that, in contrast to those circulating unfounded “beer-parlour gossip,” powerful northern leaders are supporting Mr. Tinubu. He urged opposition candidates to wait their turn, claiming that there won’t be a vacancy in Aso Rock until 2031.

Additionally, Mr. Bashiru denied rumors that Mr. Tinubu’s 2027 bid was the target of a northern plot. He claimed that Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe all welcomed the president.

“The idea that the North is banding together against Tinubu is a complete fabrication. I speak from knowledge when I say this. I’m not a frail individual. “Tell no lies, claim no easy victories,” said Bashiru, quoting Amilcar Cabral as his motto.

With obvious street celebrations in several states, including Kano, Katsina, and Gombe, he emphasized that northern support for Tinubu remained strong. Dauda Kahutu Rarara’s song “Omo Ologo” for Mr. Tinubu has become an anthem in the North, according to the APC chieftain.

He asserts that the APC’s widespread acceptance is demonstrated by its victory in recent off-cycle elections, which saw a win percentage of more than 75%.

“Nigerians, not Togolese, Cameroonians, or foreigners, are the ones voting for our party,” he said.

Mr. Bashiru commended Mr. Tinubu’s rising support across the North, inclusive leadership, and infrastructure advancement. He said that there was no crisis or danger to the APC as a result of the resignation of former chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
