Shehu Sani, a former federal legislator, has urged Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, to stay with the Labour Party (LP).
Remember, the Labour Party (LP) nominated Obi for president in 2023.
He finished in third place, behind Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who ran on the platforms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively.
Though two groups claim control of the party, the Labour Party has experienced a number of internal problems since the last election.
Discussions about the party’s future after the leadership contest have focused heavily on Obi.
Obi has remained in the LP in spite of these obstacles, avoiding recent rumors that he could join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a member of an opposition alliance in the run-up to the general elections in 2027.
