According to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso, he has never made the decision to join the All Progressives Congress.

Recent press reports have focused on Kwankaso’s requirements for joining the APC in the general elections of 2027. It was recently reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was one of the party’s founding members, instructed him to rejoin the APC.

This comes amid growing political rumors that the former defense minister had already started private discussions with the APC’s national chairman and had made formal overtures to the party early Friday morning.

The charges were denied by Kwankwaso in a personally signed statement sent Friday through his media staff, which he described as “online statements” devoid of substance or veracity.

According to the statement, “We have received warnings from certain internet sources that we have sent in a letter of intent to join a political party in the nation,

“We want to make it clear that we haven’t submitted anything like that to any party. The public is therefore encouraged to follow the existing official channels in order to remain updated on any new developments pertaining to our situation,” he continued.

According to claims that surfaced earlier Friday from APC political insiders, Senator Kwankwaso allegedly expressed interest in joining the party in a “discreet” letter to the national secretariat.

APC caucuses and social media were ablaze with comments when the reports suggested that Kwankwaso and the APC National Chairman were still in talks.

Insiders think both parties may be keeping channels of communication open, even though no official letter has yet been exchanged, as 2027 approaches and the APC is apparently considering a more extensive northern consolidation.

As of right now, Kwankwaso insists that nothing has been done; yet, in Nigerian politics, denial and silence are frequently the quiet before a well-planned storm.
