34 academic programs spread across four faculties at the recently founded Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin Ekiti, have received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Mining Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology are the approved faculties and departments, according to a statement made by Mr. Oluwole Dada, the university’s registrar.
This followed a week-long exercise in which four NUC teams visited the recently founded university to verify its facilities.
Labs, lecture halls, offices, dorms, the university library, the clinic, staff buses, restrooms, and instructional supplies, including Hitachi boards, were among the facilities that were evaluated.
The purpose of the exercise was to determine the institution’s readiness and ability to provide top-notch instruction in information technology, science, engineering, and technology, as well as environmental sciences.
Mechatronics engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, computer engineering, civil and environmental engineering, and mechanical engineering are some of the courses that have been accredited.
The Faculty of Science is authorized to provide the following courses: biology, mathematics, and biochemistry. For Geology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Forensic Science

The institution’s vice chancellor, Professor Gbenga Aribisala, was thrilled to see the verification go through and called it a significant achievement that confirms the university’s preparedness to offer education in the twenty-first century.
He emphasized FUTES’ dedication to producing students who can compete well with their peers around the world.
On the JAMB portal, Professor Aribisala urged applicants to switch their preferred school to FUTES, promising that admission would only be granted on the basis of merit.
Our goal is to establish academic greatness right away because that is why we are here. Well-performing students in JAMB, WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB will be admitted solely on the basis of merit, without fear or preference, he stated.
Additionally, the vice chancellor warned parents and guardians against using admission agents, emphasizing that FUTES does not use intermediaries.
Additionally, he counseled potential students to seek advice from the Registrar’s office or trust only the confirmed information found on the university’s official website, www.futes.edu.ng.
“We would like to clarify to the public that the institution does not have any form of agent for admissions or compensation. We provide correct information on our website to everyone,” he continued.
As he vowed to oversee a system that encourages brilliance rather than corruption, the VC advised parents and candidates to exercise caution and avoid becoming victims of scammers.
