Reports that Gabriel Suswam, the former governor of Benue State, defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been denied.
Speaking at Prof. Saasongo Nongu’s Makurdi home, Suswam stated that he is too prominent a politician to covertly leave one party and join another.
The former governor contended that it would be a betrayal of his followers and the height of shame for him to leave the ADC in secret.
“I am too big to secretly dump the ADC. “It would be a betrayal to my loyalists and the height of shame for my personality to leave the party quietly,” Suswam said.
Additionally, he reiterated his dedication to the ADC, stating that he is still a proud and committed member who is committed to bolstering the party and extending its influence throughout Benue State and beyond.
Recall that the former governor recently refuted reports that he had defected to the APC.
Suswam called the rumors “baseless, aimless, and a lie from the deepest pit of hell” in a statement sent by his media assistant, Bede Bartholomew.
According to reports, the rumors started after Governor Hyacinth Alia invited important state stakeholders to a dinner at Government House in Makurdi. According to internet sources, the occasion will be used to formally welcome Suswam into the APC.
However, Bartholomew emphasized that his principal was only accepting a courtesy offer and that the dinner had no political overtones.
