A Nigerian Navy officer assigned to the Defense Headquarters, Lt. Cynthia Akor, and two other people have been kidnapped by gunmen in Abuja.
It was understood that the victims were abducted on Friday night from their home in the Federal Capital Territory’s Mpape neighborhood.
On Saturday, the development was confirmed by a source who asked not to be named for security concerns.
The source said the kidnappers had contacted the captives’ relatives and demanded a ransom of ₦100 million to free them. The source lives in the same region as the victims.
“A DHQ official named Lt. Akor is one of the three individuals who were abducted on Friday night in the Mpape district. “The kidnappers have already contacted their relatives and are requesting a ransom of ₦100 million,” the insider disclosed.

By the time this report was filed, attempts to contact the Director of Defense Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, and the Director of Defense Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, had failed. Until then, they had not answered messages.
Josephine Adeh, the spokesman for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, said she will verify the event and provide more information when contacted.
She promised to confirm and get back to her soon. At the time this report was filed, however, no additional information had been supplied.
