Senate President Godswill Akpabio has come under fire from Nollywood actor Ugezu J. Ugezu for contesting the court ruling that reinstated Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Ugezu reportedly expressed his opinion on Instagram.
The director questioned why Akpabio would contest the decision of a qualified court that ruled that Natasha’s suspension was illegal and ordered her to return to the Senate.
Reminding Akpabio that neither he nor Natasha were chosen by the people, he pointed out that no senator has the authority to permanently remove another from office.
Ugezu urged the Senate President to put aside distractions and concentrate on important legislative work rather than dragging out protracted legal disputes over the reinstatement of a colleague.
He wrote: “You were chosen to represent YOUR people in the same manner that SHE was elected to serve her people. You’ve suspended her now. An elected senator cannot be suspended indefinitely, according to a competent court, which ordered her return. AND THE JUDGMENT IS BEING APPEALED? SENATE PRESIDENT SIR, ARE YOU ABLE TO DO YOUR REAL TIME PARLIAMENTARY DUTIES AND SKIP THE FRIVOLITIES?
According to reports, Senate President Godswill Akpabio filed a notice of appeal against the Federal High Court’s ruling in Abuja that ordered Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to be recalled to the upper house of parliament after she was suspended.
The appeal, recorded as CA/A//2025, was filed in the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division on July 14, 2025.
It is related to suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/384/2025, which was previously filed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to challenge her Senate suspension of six months.
