The African Democratic Congress (ADC) alliance is attempting to emulate the successful 2013 merger that gave rise to the ruling party, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC dismissed the coalition, arguing that it could not be compared to a strategic political merger that occurred in 2013, when the late Muhammadu Buhari’s Congress for Progressive Change, Atiku Abubakar’s New PDP, and the now-defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, led by Bola Tinubu, united to form the APC.
In an interview with Punch, APC National Vice Chairman (South-East) Ijeoma Arodiogbu called the alliance “a coalition of strange bedfellows” that lacked the depth, structure, and strategy that helped the APC come to power more than ten years ago.

Why is the relocation of persons to the ADC a cause for concern? Who are these individuals, please? “There’s nothing to be concerned about unless our major leaders, APC governors, or lawmakers are defecting,” he stated.

He maintained that Buhari’s enormous appeal of more than 12 million devoted voters in the north, combined with Tinubu’s years of political mentoring and the development of strategic alliances, were what made the 2013 merger so successful.

He asserted, however, that the ADC was only assembling disgruntled politicians who had an electoral basis or ideological ties.

They are merely attempting to replicate our actions. People all around the nation were cultivated and built by Tinubu. Governors and legislators were drawn to him because to his reputation and vision. According to Arodiogbu, their current actions are desperate attempts to seize power rather than strategic.

The majority of persons joining the ADC, he added, are internally displaced PDP and Labour Party politicians who were unable to find purpose in their previous platforms.

However, the APC is winning more governors and lawmakers every day. More people are publicly declaring for us, even on the parliamentary floor.

The APC leader also made fun of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, implying that his support for the ADC was a result of his own resentment at not being included in Tinubu’s cabinet.

“Should we even be discussing individuals like El-Rufai?” he asked. His main complaint is that he was passed over for a cabinet position. That is entitlement, not ideology. Who else in that coalition deserves our attention besides him?

Arodiogbu also emphasized Tinubu’s economic goals and reform program, emphasizing that the president was still dedicated to redressing historical wrongdoings and safeguarding Nigeria’s financial future.

“President Tinubu made it clear when he took office that we cannot stick to the status quo. He is concentrating on getting rid of waste and leaks. That’s what separates us from those posing as an alternative,” he said.
