Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, was present at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus meeting in the state on Friday.
Rumors that the former Solid Minerals Minister would be switching to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have been dispelled by Fayemi’s appearance.
In a post on his X handle, the former governor claimed that the meeting was a chance to consider the party’s advancement.
“I went to the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Caucus meeting in Ekiti State, which was hosted at HE Otunba Niyi Adebayo’s home in Iyin Ekiti. It was a fantastic chance to talk with our party leaders and important stakeholders, consider the strides we’ve achieved, and share ideas on how to increase our impact and unity going forward,” he said.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s efforts in the state were praised by Fayemi. He praised the state’s party members’ cohesiveness.
He said he was confident that with the state’s members’ unity and discipline, the APC will do more.
“I applaud Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his outstanding work and dedication to our state’s progress. We fully support him in continuing the great work he is doing for the people of Ekiti and our party.
Seeing the party members’ discipline, togetherness, and common goal was incredibly encouraging. As we continue to expand on our shared vision for Ekiti State, I am still hopeful about what we can do together,” he continued.
On March 10, the former governor of Ekiti State reportedly denied rumors that he intended to leave the ruling party.

Nonetheless, he stated that the party must improve its internal democracy.
“My attention has been drawn to a story circulating on several online platforms regarding my defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I have had occasion to declare previously that I am an APC card-carrying foundation member, and this status has not altered.
“While I have been at the vanguard of demand for greater internal democracy and inclusion in the ruling party, I believe it is still not late for our party to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy,” he stated.
