The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Cross River State has automatically nominated Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, for the general election in 2027.
Alphonsus Eba, the state chairman of the APC, reportedly announced this on Monday.
Eba said that the governor and his deputy were the only party members who had received an automatic ticket, and he advised other party members who wanted to run for office to start consulting.

He said that before the elections, other candidates should go back to their voters and ask for their support.

He declared, “The APC’s State Working Committee and State Executive Committee met today and decided that Governor Otu will be the party’s only candidate in 2027.”
Nobody modifies a successful team. In 2027, the governor and his deputy will fly the party’s flag.

As was done in 2022, the APC chairman went on to say that even if Otu was hesitant to run, the party would still only issue one ticket bearing his name.

“We urge him to take the nomination and pay attention to what the party members want,” Eba said.

Additionally, he commended the deputy governor, who is currently serving as governor, for endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s policies in Rivers.

Eba pointed out that some people had given false information about the state’s position. He praised the interim governor for making it clear that the South-South governors had not sought his advice prior to challenging Tinubu’s decision.

He praised the president for keeping Rivers peaceful and averting a political catastrophe.
