Only 33 of the 98 candidates who were vetted during the exercise, which took place between May 9 and 10, were approved by the committee, which was led by Muraine Ajibola.

According to the committee’s May 10 report, the impacted candidates did not fulfill the screening exercise’s standards.

Ajibola, Ishake Yamawe, the committee secretary, and Danjuma Samuel, another member, signed the report.

Among those disqualified were all candidates associated with the campaigns of former governor Tonye Cole and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Ahead of the primaries, it is anticipated that the news may exacerbate political tensions inside the Rivers APC.

Sokari Goodboy, Victor Oko-Jumbo, and Chijoke Ihunwo are prominent members of Fubara’s group that did not pass the screening.
