Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, revealed that he once met with Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Bisi Akande, and Senator Abdullahi Adamu to voice his displeasure over the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) departure from its original goals and ideals.
“The political stakeholders agreed during the meeting that the party had strayed from its original blueprint,” he said.
“I spoke with leaders that the party should return to its status quo, but I was shunned,” El-Rufai bemoaned in an interview with Deutsche Welle Hausa in Katsina.
He claimed that the APC’s leadership’s disdain for internal democracy and group decision-making was evident in the party’s refusal to have meetings for two years.

I questioned Bisi Akande, Adams Oshiomhole, and Abdullahi Adamu whether this was what we had in mind for the populace when we first founded and registered our party, he claims. They also claimed that things have changed. Should you continue doing what you don’t like if it has changed? We should get back on the radar radar, I told the leaders, but they rejected us.
I have to find a party that shares the same ideology as the one we had when 37 of us joined up to register the APC, which is why I stated that it is the party that deserted me. I’m one of them. Among the founding fathers is myself.
However, even if you gave birth to a child who veered off course and you made every effort to steer him back on course but he refused, you still leave him alone. I have left APC with the world after swearing it off.
