The abducted pupils and teachers of Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been released after being in the kidnappers’ den for over 50 days.
This was made known by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, in a post via his 𝕏 handle on Friday.
Onanuga said the security forces rescued the teachers and pupils.
“Finally, the abducted pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been released by their abductors,” the post read. Security forces rescue kidnapped pupils, teachers in Orire, Oyo.

In another development, a joint security team made up of operatives of the Oyo State Police Command, the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters have rescued a couple kidnapped by suspected kidnappers in the Oke-Ogun area of the state.
The victims, Alhaji Busiru Booni and his wife, Alhaja Pitiku were rescued unharmed after a gun battle between the security operatives and the suspected kidnappers at their forest hideout.
The couple was allegedly abducted late Saturday, July 5, 2026, after about five armed men invaded Tiro village in Irawo.

The attackers allegedly shot a few times before taking the couple away to an unknown location.
The Oyo State Police Command said the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, ordered an immediate search-and-rescue operation upon receiving information about the abduction.
Police officers, Amotekun operatives, community vigilantes and local hunters who know the terrain were involved in the operation.
The command said the team made an early breakthrough with the recovery of a Bajaj motorcycle earlier reported stolen and later abandoned in a nearby bush.
