The Court of Appeal, Abuja, on Wednesday affirmed Olumide Akpata as the Labour Party governorship candidate in Edo State.

The three-member panel headed by Justice Okon Abang dismissed an appeal filed by one Kenneth Imansuangbon for lack of merit.

Abang, who delivered the lead judgement held that Imansuangbon failed to explore the the party’s intra-conflict resolution mechanism before rushing to court.

He declared that the case was premature in law and could not be entertained on the ground that conditions precedent were not met.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had in June dismissed a similar suit seeking to disqualify Akpata as LP candidate in the September 21 election in the state.
