In response to the continuing issue involving former midfielder Thomas Partey, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the team responded responsibly.
Keep in mind that Thomas Partey left Arsenal on June 30, 2025, after his contract with the team expired.
According to sources, the 32-year-old Ghanaian international is being charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, approximately four days after he officially left the Gunners.
According to the report, Partey is accused of five rapes and one sexual assault in connection with events that happened in 2021 and 2022 and involved three separate women. This was disclosed in a July 4 statement issued by the Metropolitan Police.
Before Arsenal’s preseason match against AC Milan in Singapore, Arteta was questioned if he thought the team handled the matter well during Thomas Partey’s playing days.
Arteta replied, “The club’s statement was very clear.” “I can’t comment on any of that because there are a lot of complicated legal issues.”
When asked if he had complete faith in Arsenal’s internal processes, Arteta replied, “100%, yes.”
There are numerous complainants and a convoluted timetable in the charges. One lady made the accusations that led to two of the rape charges, while three more are related to another woman. A third woman is linked to the single count of sexual assault.
Partey has refuted all of the accusations through his legal team and “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
Following the original rape complaint, authorities reportedly started looking into the matter in February 2022.
After spending £45 million to join Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020, Partey was a key member of the team’s midfield the previous season. He scored four goals in 35 Premier League games.

Last season, Partey made 12 appearances in the Champions League, helping the Gunners advance to the semi-finals before losing to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.
On August 5, the Ghanaian international is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
In the meanwhile, Arsenal’s preseason schedule includes matches against Tottenham Hotspur at 12:30 p.m. on July 31, Newcastle United on Sunday, July 27, and Inter Milan on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
