Primate Elijah Ayodele has lashed out at the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, saying the government does not have the willpower to face insecurity squarely.

The cleric, in a statement by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, said the federal government and security agencies know the individuals and groups behind insecurity in the country, but have failed to take decisive action against them.

Ayodele said the insecurity problem in Nigeria began when some politicians used armed groups for political purposes and later lost control of them.

He said, “The Nigerian government is not taking the issue of security seriously because it is looking like a curse to the Nigerian government.”

He further said, “Secret of insecurity is known to the government and all service chiefs but they are scared.”

The cleric also said some traditional rulers are linked to insecurity in parts of the country, and asked why authorities have not taken action against those allegedly involved.

Insecurity has now become a business in Nigeria, and the situation may continue unless the government is ready to take tough and decisive actions, Ayodele warned.
