President Bola Tinubu’s time in government is over, according to Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former Labour Party vice presidential candidate, who has encouraged him not to run for reelection in 2027.
In his Friday appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ought to already be aware that they will lose the general elections in 2027.
“If Tinubu is the intelligent politician he turns out to be, I expect him to throw in the towel,” Baba-Ahmed said, emphasizing that the president and the APC could see it was unlikely that they would win in 2027.
According to reports, Baba-Ahmed mockingly called Tinubu a “super-smart politician” who orchestrated political maneuvers from 2007 till the contentious 2023 presidential race, taking aim at his political approach.
“He skipped 2007 and jokingly made Atiku (presidential) candidate, made Ribadu and others (2011), made Buhari in 2015, and Buhari won, then skipped 2019 and they stole 2023,” he said, mocking Tinubu’s political maneuvers. He has everything he needs to lose in 2027 if he is that intelligent.
The LP chieftain predicted that growing public discontent will cause Tinubu’s political success-producing tactic to backfire in the next elections.
In 2027, Tinubu might be defeated by one of two potential contenders, Baba-Ahmed said. With the assertion that “it has been proven that APC is a lie,” he also asserted that Tinubu will not fulfill the promises he made to Nigerians during the campaign.
Baba-Ahmed noted that notably in the areas of development, security, and anti-corruption initiatives, the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari failed to live up to its promises to the Nigerian people. He also criticized Tinubu’s chances, stating that “Buhari did not fight corruption, Buhari did not provide security, and Buhari did not develop Nigeria.” Tinubu will also never do this.

Nigerians Will Band Together To Remove Bad Leadership
According to the 2023 Labour Party vice presidential candidate, Nigerians would band together to vote out what he called “bad leadership,” which would result in a defeat for the APC in the 2027 election.
Baba-Ahmed predicted a change in the political climate of the nation, with people coming together to exercise democracy and hold powerful people responsible.
“This election, I predict the APC to lose. I envision Nigerians coming together in some way, hearing what I have to say—that democracy is not for you if you can’t practice this—and then deciding to exercise democracy for the first time, at which point bad leadership will no longer be able to hide in Nigeria, Baba-Ahmed stated.
In closing, he declared that Nigerian democracy will undergo a sea change in 2027 when voters rebelled against inept governance.
