BANC Offers Roadmap to FG for Reducing Youth Migration and Unemployment

If the Nigerian government implements a robust industrial system to engage its citizens, irregular migration and unemployment issues may be resolved, according to Dr. Chibuzor Onyeama, founder and CEO of Black Ancestral Native Communities (BANC) and an expert in labor migration.

In his remarks at the 2025 Nelson Mandela Leadership Lecture and Impact Makers Award, which was hosted by the Professional Public Speaking & Leadership Academy (PPS­LA AFRICA) in Abuja, Onyeama emphasized the importance of keeping young Nigerians, whom he characterized as exceptionally gifted, involved in local activities that would allow them to support themselves rather than pursuing migration to other nations in search of employment.

He supported his claim by saying that when towns are industrialized, young people have the chance to work where they need to and that there won’t be any haphazard issues stemming from their desire to leave Nigeria.

His words: “I have described a program that can assist in the development of small community industries in the areas where people reside, which I refer to as the Cirxuitious Industrialization Scheme. The fact that it is indirect and occurs within our communities makes it circuitous. Because it is small-scale but factory-based, it allows young people to find work in their communities.

If the issue of employment has been resolved, young people will remain at home. But if you don’t have the chance to interact with everyone who is qualified, including those who aren’t, and if you haven’t given them the right tools to solve problems, then you’re giving them tickets or even making them want to fly away, which is what the Japanese are all about.

Additionally, the founder of the BANC attributed irregular migration and criminality, particularly cybercrime, to peer pressure.

In his view, the Nigerian government could improve its standing by establishing avenues for young Nigerians to engage in the country’s socio-economic structure.

Thus, we are arguing that it is feasible to keep young people engaged by purposefully creating infrastructure and solution-based industrial systems that enable them to release their energy and potential and be prepared to work for themselves.

In his eloquent homage to Nelson Mandela, Onyeama called on Nigerian leaders to fight and work toward improving the nation by demonstrating a commitment to developing talent and skill in the next generation.

Prior to the general elections in 2027, he called on Nigerians to “look to find the best of the best” as a nation. And place them in the appropriate places. The best measurement ever is achieved by following the instructions to place round pegs in round holes and square pegs in square holes.

He lamented that the numerous leadership and policy crises confronting Nigeria’s youth today were caused by “political distancing,” in which the leaders are elderly and have few years to live.

“There are moments when you question how long some of our leaders will have to live to witness the chaos and destruction they have wrought upon us. Subsequently, you discover that these individuals are in their later years and hold the leadership positions.

In order to elect young people to leadership roles, the migration expert warned that the deteriorating trend of “money politics,” which was impeding active youth participation in politics, must be stopped first.

It’s best to minimize money politics. due to the fact that the younger generation lacks the financial resources necessary to influence Nigerian politics.

“You are a young man with ideas and experience in business ventures that have proven successful. Because it’s money politics, someone may ask you how much money you have in the bank when you want to take a particular job.

“Instead of engaging in money politics, we should start taking practical steps to address this nation’s issues. Because we have all we need to address the current Nigerian issue, it is not difficult for us to solve.

African leaders are encouraged to take inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s selfless life and leadership style, according to Dr. Lotanna Okoye, Director General of the Professional Public Speaking & Leadership Academy (PPSLA AFRICA).

It is Nelson Mandela’s World International Day. We hope that the present leaders will take inspiration from Mande­la’s way of life, the leadership style and system he employed throughout his lifetime, and all of the sacrifices he made for Africa.
