Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo Kuti has been honored by former US President Barack Obama in a new audio series that explores the artist’s remarkable talent and activism.
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Obama paid homage in a new podcast series called “Fela Kuti: Fear no man,” which is owned by Obama and his wife, Michelle.
A video posted to his Instagram feed showed Obama’s affection for the late political activist and Afrobeat pioneer.
He said, “I really love him,” but he also disclosed that his adoration for Fela is personal.
“He’s a Nigerian musical genius.”
“A singular personality in the history of music who created music that I truly adore,” Obama stated in the video.
