Following the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) blunder, 379,997 candidates have been rescheduled for another Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination.
The rescheduling started Thursday morning after Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the examination body’s registrar, announced it during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
Punch reports that a reprinted exam sheet seen Thursday morning shows that one of the impacted applicants has been rescheduled to take her exam in one of the Lagos centers in the Igando village, which is located in the state’s Alimosho Local Government Area, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, by 12 p.m.

206,610 candidates at 65 locations in Lagos and 92 locations in the Owerri zone—a total of 173,387 candidates throughout the five South East states—were reportedly affected by Oloyede’s acknowledged mistakes in the just ended exam.
“One or two mistakes have changed what should have been a moment of joy,” Oloyede said. “Even after we adjusted all the machinery, mistakes persisted.”
He continued by saying that “206,610 in 65 centers in Lagos and 92 centers in the Owerri zone comprising 173,387 candidates in the five states of the South East were affected.”
Oloyede, who accepted responsibility for the 2025 UTME’s “sabotage,” stated that the Board will begin texting the impacted applicants on Thursday.
Those who were impacted will now have the chance to retake the test from May 16 to May 19, 2025, he added.
