The #RevolutionNow Movement’s organizer and former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has arrived at Force Headquarters in Abuja to accept a police invitation.
On Monday, at approximately 9.45 a.m., Sowore, his attorney, and a few supporters came at the police headquarters.
Sowore had been called in for interrogation by the Nigeria Police Force after recording a video that went viral and exposed alleged extortion by police personnel on Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport Access Road.
On behalf of the Force Intelligence Department (FID) Deputy Inspector General of Police, CP Ibitoye Rufus Alajide signed the invitation, which was dated January 23, 2025.

As stated in the invitation letter, “This office is investigating case of resisting and obstructing public officers, disobedience to lawful order, acts intended to cause grievous harm or prevent arrest, compelling action by intimidation, reckless & negligent acts, refusal to assist public servant, and cyberstalking in which your name featured, prominently.”
“Sowore was instructed to report to Room 212 of the FID Complex, opposite Force Headquarters in Abuja, at 10 a.m.,” the letter stated. The invitation fell within the police’s constitutional investigative powers, the letter stressed, and Sowore was advised of his right to bring legal counsel.
Confronting officers at a checkpoint on the airport route is depicted in the contentious video, which has gone viral on social media. The officers in the video were charged with generating traffic and extorting drivers.
There was an altercation after the officers ordered Sowore to park his car as it drew closer.
